Our home is lovely now. But I've never experienced such unprofessionalism as I did with D W White Construction. Had he stuck with the job, honored his contract, I would of gave him a much better review despite the many headaches we had along the way.
I was partially satisfied because despite all the problems, set backs, and time delays; the work seemed to be done well. But this company lost all my respect when he walked off the job just as our cabinets came in. The window had been put in the wrong place because they failed to look at the kitchen cabinet layout that was left under their noses for months. He claimed he never saw the blueprints. However, stove, refrigerator hookup and most can lights (except two that were too close to corner cabinets) were all put in correct place. He refused to move the window or lights. He ordered his crew off the job and left many things unfinished. And he demanded payment from his final draw. We did get the window moved, lights moved and the cabinets installed by For The Master Construction, Craig Miller. His work was timely and very professional.
I am writing this as a builder, beware. We remodeled and added on to my husband's family home. We had the worst building experience ever with D W White Construction. If you did hire him, here is what to expect. #1) You need a blueprint of your home. He didn't provide this or a 3D drawing. This caused problems when our proposed roof didn't work out and they redid roof three times causing himself and us added expense. #2) You need everything he says written in the contract. He will tell you things and then say he didn't say them. This was our fault! Details, details, details! Write them down! He will even forget things in the contract if not pointed out. #3) You need an unlimited amount of time, as his crew of 2-3 work between other jobs and progress is slow to say the least. You might only have one guy on your job while the other two are working elsewhere. #4) You have to be prepared to babysit the job. Things will be left undone or forgotten. If you are not constantly on top of them they will do things wrong and they have to be redone or not do them at all.
